Introducing EarthCARE/CPR project members

Yuki Imura

Researcher

For “decoding” the information transmitted by EarthCARE

Job description

The sensors onboard the EarthCARE satellites transmit their observed signals to Earth. To transform these signals into invaluable information, it is necessary to process the signal data into "products" that are available for users. In other words, it is imperative to “decode” the signals sent by the satellite and replace them with easily understadable information for users to utilize. I will verify these products and prepare the data for users. Additionally, I will conduct community outreach to raise awareness of EarthCARE and promote the use of its data.

Thoughts on EarthCARE/CPR

During my time as a student, my research focused on clouds, aerosols, and radiation. Through this, I grasped the importance of satellite data in understanding these phenomena. I have eagerly anticipated the launch of the EarthCARE satellite, which provides insight into the inner structures of clouds. It's a great honor to be part of this mission. I hope that the data collected by EarthCARE will greatly contribute to our understandings of cloud-aerosol-radiation interactions and global warming.
