Introducing EarthCARE/CPR project members

Shusuke Ochiai

Researcher

We are proud to be a part of the international cooperation mission EarthCARE, and we ensure the quality of CPR.

Job description

I am in charge of quality assurance. Once a satellite is launched, if it malfunctions it cannot be repaired. A slight malfunction can lead to the loss of an entire mission. To prevent such incidents, and to ensure that the CPR can fully perform its intended functions and performance in orbit, it is designed and manufactured by professionals in each field. My role is to oversee from a bird's-eye view whether this design and manufacturing is being done correctly, and if not, whether it is being corrected appropriately.

Thoughts on EarthCARE/CPR

Thanks to the efforts of many members over many years, CPR has been completed without a single flaw. I am excited to see the CPR in orbit acquire valuable data for humanity. The EarthCARE project plays an important role in predicting what the Earth will look like 100 or 200 years from now. If this project can help combat climate change, it will mean that I will bequeath a great legacy in the form of the global environment to my grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and future generations after I am gone, so I am very proud to be taking part in it.
